The praying mantis is named for its prominent front legs, which are bent and held together at an angle that suggests the position of prayer. The larger group of these insects is more properly called the praying mantids. Mantis refers to the genus mantis, to which only some praying mantids belong.

"Legacy" is the 10th Praying Mantis album. It is the first recording to feature the two new members, Jaycee Cuijpers and Hans in’t Zandt (vocals and drums respectively), who have truly provided a new dimension to the writing process and musical performances. Together with guitarists Tino Troy and Andy Burgess, they have been instrumental not only in the writing of the new songs, but in providing a new vision in terms of the sound engineering and production.

2016 A Great Year!

Following the success of `Legacy`, the band has certainly been busy promoting the album during the early stages of 2016. With shows in Holland, Spain, Italy and Crete (Greece) already under our belt and with further shows in Germany, France and the UK scheduled for later in the year, the band is now busier than ever! 2016 was always going to be a little bit special for Praying Mantis as it marked the 35th anniversary of our debut album ‘Time Tells No Lies’.
